The National Museum wants to see works from artists throughout the country

The new National Museum opens in 2020 with a large exhibition that will show new Norwegian contemporary art. In the preparations for the exhibition, the curators make a thorough survey of the Norwegian art scene, and have met over 200 artists on their travels around the country.

To get an even better overview, the museum now invites artists in Norway and Sápmi to submit works produced in 2018/2019.

With the project, the museum wants to expand both the museum's own and the public's understanding of what Norwegian contemporary art is right now. One of the criteria for the committee is that none of the artists should be represented in the National Museum's collection. The exhibition will be displayed in the 2400 square meters Lyshallen at the top of the new museum.

You can read more about the exhibition project here.

Curatron - an exhibition in the exhibition

In addition, an "exhibition in the exhibition" is planned, where the selection takes place through Curatron. Read more about the Curatron application process here.

Artists will apply for both the Curatron portion of this exhibition and the National Museum curated selection through the National Museum application portal.
